The Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation respectfully acknowledges and pays respect to all the Traditional Owners of the Yamatji Nation.

Amangu, Badimia, Hutt River, Mullewa Wadjari, Naaguja, Nhanda, Wadjarri, Wattandee, Widi and Wilunyu Nhanhagardi peoples – Together they are the traditional custodians of Yamatji Nation.

We honour and pay respect to our Elders, who have and continue to play important roles and hold a prominent place in our communities and families. The strength and spirits of our Elders has carried the survival of our people. They are cultural knowledge holders, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers, and loved ones. We draw strength from their knowledge and experience in everything from water, land management, cultural knowledge, to justice and everything in-between.

The Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation Ltd (YSRC) was established on 8th January 2020 following a settlement agreement with the Western Australian Government. YSRC was established to act as the Regional Entity to implement a best practice governance structure to manage the benefits of the agreement.

Heritage and Culture

The State Government has committed to a number of projects under the agreement for the protection of heritage and culture.

Governance

The Yamatji Nation Indigenous Land Use Agreement, resolves the State Government’s native title compensation liability in relation to 48,000 square kilometres of land in the State’s mid-west region.

Economic Opportunities

Yamatji Enterprises’ primary purpose is to create profits to be placed into a Community Trust that can deliver benefits to Members.

Land and Water Asset Management

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) has contributed $21.3 million to secure the cultural, social and economic benefits of water.

Recognition

The Agreement recognises the Yamatji Nation’s traditional connection to the land and waters in the Agreement area and the native title rights and interests which exist in parts of the Agreement area.

Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation Ltd acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to elders both past and present.
