The Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation Ltd (YSRC) was established in January 2020, as part of the historic Yamatji Nation Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) with the State of Western Australia. The YSRC is the parent entity of the Yamatji Nation governance structure which includes the Prescribed Body Corporate, Bundi Yamatji Aboriginal Corporation, Yamatji Enterprises Limited and the Joint Trustee established under the ILUA.
YSRC has established a Strategic Plan and vision, based on utilising the benefits of the ILUA. The YSRC is a growing team, working out of the Geraldton Headquarters with responsibility to implement the Strategic Plan and undertake day-to-day management of activities associated with its objectives.
HERITAGE OFFICER - Ref 008HO
Salary range: $70,000 (ex. Super)
YSRC pool vehicle provided (as required)
The Heritage Office role within YSRC is hands-on with responsibility for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the heritage services portfolio. The Heritage Officer will provide support to the Bundi Aboriginal Yamatji Corporation and broader Yamatji Nation members in relation to cultural heritage matters.
This is a unique role with the opportunity to develop cultural heritage opportunities and to promote, protect and preserve heritage values across the Yamatji Nation. It is also engaging with State Government Agencies and other stakeholders about the future management of information and materials related to the Yamatji Nation. This role will play an important part in these engagements.
This position also creates a valuable opportunity to establish policies and processes for cultural heritage management during an important stage of the ILUA implementation.
Whilst is will be an advantage if you have a background in Aboriginal heritage legislation/management, it is not essential. For the right person, this Geraldton based role is a development opportunity.
